S for S begins Singapore visit (with photos)

     The Secretary for Security, Mr Tang Ping-keung, began his visit programme to Singapore today (August 30). He called on officials in charge of security matters, as well as visiting the INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation. He also met with some Hong Kong people in Singapore.

     In the morning, Mr Tang visited the INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation to learn more about its innovative and advanced solutions in combating cybercrimes. He also called on the Senior Minister of Singapore, Mr Teo Chee Hean, and visited the National Security Coordination Secretariat under the Prime Minister's Office to meet with its Permanent Secretary (National Security and Intelligence Coordination), Mr Leo Yip, to share experiences on the work of upholding national security.

     In the afternoon, Mr Tang met with the Commissioner of the Singapore Police Force, Mr Hoong Wee Teck, to exchange views on the challenges facing the police forces in the two places, as well as the fruitful co-operation over the years. Mr Tang expressed the hope that through continuing mutual visits, professional trainings and collaboration in different aspects, including participation in international police sports events, the two forces will enhance their professional capabilities together. Mr Tang also met with the Commissioner of Cybersecurity and Chief Executive of the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore, Mr David Koh, and was briefed on the agency's work in safeguarding cybersecurity for the protection of critical information infrastructure and exchanged views with him.

     Mr Tang paid a courtesy call on the Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the Chinese Embassy in Singapore, Mr Zhu Jing, to brief him on the latest developments in Hong Kong and express his gratitude to the Chinese Embassy in Singapore for its long-standing and strong support to the Hong Kong Immigration Department in providing assistance to Hong Kong residents in distress abroad.

     Mr Tang met with Hong Kong people who do business and work in Singapore, as well as youth interns there in the evening to learn about their development and needs. He encouraged them to tell the good stories of Hong Kong together with the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.

     Mr Tang will continue his visit to Singapore tomorrow (August 31).
