Cha Kwo Ling Promenade and Tsui Ping Seaside open today (with photos)
*********************************************************************
The Drainage Services Department (DSD) announced today (August 24) the official opening of the Cha Kwo Ling Promenade on Wai Yip Street, Kwun Tong, and the adjacent Tsui Ping Seaside, connecting the waterfront of Cha Kwo Ling and Kwun Tong.

To cater for the future development of the Kwun Tong area, the DSD implemented enhancement works for the Kwun Tong Sewage Pumping Station (KTSPS). An underground balancing facility with a storage capacity of 16 000 cubic metres (equivalent to 6.4 Olympic-sized swimming pools) was constructed to enhance the effectiveness of sewage treatment.

To implement the "single site, multiple use" initiative, the DSD developed the roof floor of the KTSPS into a landscaped deck, which joins with the adjacent waterfront area to form the 1.8-hectare Cha Kwo Ling Promenade. A pavilion, landscaped areas, lawns, children's play facilities, fitness equipment and more are available at the promenade. The waterfront area also serves as an Inclusive Park for Pets where the public can bring their pets.

The DSD completed the cross-river walkway of the Tsui Ping Seaside under the Revitalisation of Tsui Ping River project ahead of schedule. Together with the space released by an upgrading of the nearby Kwun Tong Preliminary Treatment Works, it connects an about 1.7-kilometre waterfront area that runs through Kwun Tong and Cha Kwo Ling, enhancing the overall connectivity of the Kwun Tong area and the accessibility of the Kowloon East waterfront.

The promenade is adjacent to Kwun Tong Bypass and Kwun Tong Ferry Pier. People can walk directly in about 13 minutes from Exit B1 of the MTR Kwun Tong Station to the promenade. People can also take bus or minibus to Kwun Tong Ferry Pier, and then walk about five minutes through the Kwun Tong Promenade and cross-river footbridge of Tsui Ping Seaside to the promenade.

The Cha Kwo Ling Promenade is under the management of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD). For enquiries, please contact the Kwun Tong District Leisure Services Office of LCSD at 2343 6123 during office hours.
