Triumphant return of Hong Kong, China Delegation from Ulaanbaatar 2023 East Asia Youth Games (with photo)

     The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government held a welcome home ceremony at Hong Kong International Airport today (August 23) to greet the Hong Kong, China Delegation on their triumphant return from the Ulaanbaatar 2023 East Asia Youth Games (EAYG).

     The Principal Assistant Secretary (Sports & Recreation) of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau, Mr Paul Cheng, and Assistant Director (Leisure Services) of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department Ms Olivia Cheung, extended their welcome to the Hong Kong athletes at the airport. Amid days of intense competition, the delegation shone at the Games and earned a total of 22 medals, comprising two gold, six silver and 14 bronze.

     The 2023 EAYG was held from August 16 to 23 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Over 1 500 athletes from nine countries or regions participated in the Games. The Hong Kong, China Delegation, consisting of 145 young athletes aged 15 to 18 participated in nine sports categories, namely athletics, badminton, basketball and basketball 3x3, esports, football, judo, table tennis, taekwondo and volleyball.
