Hongkong Post to issue "Intangible Cultural Heritage - Hong Kong-style Milk Tea Making Technique" special stamps (with photos)
******************************************************************************************
Hongkong Post announced today (July 10) that a special stamp issue and associated philatelic products on the theme of "Intangible Cultural Heritage - Hong Kong-style Milk Tea Making Technique" will be released for sale on July 25 (Tuesday).

Hong Kong-style Milk Tea Making Technique was inscribed onto the first Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Hong Kong in 2017. Hong Kong-style milk tea is a much-loved beverage among Hong Kong locals. It is also known as "silk-stocking milk tea" because the white cloth bag used to filter out tiny tea leaves is stained with the colour of tea and turns brown after being used repeatedly, resembling a silk stocking. Hong Kong-style milk tea is the outcome of a century-old evolution from English milk tea. The tea-making technique does not only epitomise the fusion and development of Hong Kong's East-meets-West food culture, but also gives a glimpse of how locals live and eat.

Hongkong Post will issue a set of four stamps, two stamp sheetlets and associated philatelic products on the theme of "Intangible Cultural Heritage - Hong Kong-style Milk Tea Making Technique" to promote this intangible cultural heritage of Hong Kong, in the hope that this traditional craftsmanship can pass down through generations.

Official first day covers for "Intangible Cultural Heritage - Hong Kong-style Milk Tea Making Technique" will be on sale at all post offices and on Hongkong Post's online shopping mall ShopThruPost (shopthrupost.hongkongpost.hk) from tomorrow (July 11). This set of special stamps and associated philatelic products will be on sale at all post offices and ShopThruPost from July 25, while serviced first day covers affixed with the special stamps will be available at philatelic offices only.

A hand-back date-stamping service will be provided on July 25 at all post offices for official first day covers/souvenir covers/privately made covers bearing the first day of issue indication and a local address. Collection points will be set up at all post offices on the same day for submission of the covers requesting the hand-back date-stamping service.
