CSSA caseload for May 2023

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in May showed a drop of 264 cases, representing a decrease of 0.1 per cent compared with that of April, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (June 19).

     The total CSSA caseload at the end of May stood at 204 624 (see attached table), with a total of 283 946 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 0.8 per cent to 1 780 cases. Old age cases decreased by 0.3 per cent to 114 579 cases. Single parent cases dropped by 0.2 per cent to 21 801 cases. 

     Ill-health cases registered an increase of 0.2 per cent to 27 457 cases. Both permanent disability cases and unemployment cases slightly increased by 0.1 per cent to 17 249 cases and 17 798 cases respectively.
