Appointments to Green Tech Fund Assessment Committee

     The Government today (June 7) announced the appointment of three new members, Ms Elizabeth Quat, Mr Tsang Kam-lam and Mr Stephen Law, to the second term of the Green Tech Fund Assessment Committee (GTFAC) with immediate effect until December 31, 2024.

     "The GTFAC, chaired by the Permanent Secretary for Environment and Ecology (Environment), comprises members from different sectors including academia, industrial and environmental practitioners. It is responsible for assessing applications for the Green Tech Fund (GTF) and monitoring progress of approved projects. We are grateful to the members for their agreement to serve on the GTFAC to work with the Government in promoting the development of low-carbon and green technologies," a spokesman for the Environment and Ecology Bureau said.
 
     The membership of the second term of the GTFAC is as follows:

     The Government set up the GTF in December 2020 to provide better and more focused funding support to research and development projects which help Hong Kong decarbonise and enhance environmental protection. A total of $400 million has been allocated to the fund to support projects in priority areas such as net-zero electricity generation, energy saving and green buildings, green transport and waste reduction. Twenty-two projects from local universities, designated public research institutes and private enterprises have been approved. These research projects involve technologies for the cell storage and generation of hydrogen fuel; manufacturing of biochar-enhanced construction materials; and an air cleaning system for reducing roadside air pollution, etc.
