Local premiere of FDF-financed film "Tales From The Occult: Body and Soul" to be held tonight

The following is issued on behalf of the Hong Kong Film Development Council:
 
     The local premiere of a new film partly financed by the Film Production Financing Scheme (Relaxation Plan) under the Film Development Fund (FDF), "Tales From The Occult: Body and Soul", will be held this evening (May 23).

     "Tales From The Occult: Body and Soul" is produced by John Chong and Mathew Tang, and is co-directed by three new talented directors, Frank Hui, Daniel Chan and Doris Wong. It is co-written by Wesley Hoi, Doris Wong, Ho Ching-yi, Li Yuk-ting, Stanley Wong, Chu Kit-ying, and Relic Cheng. The film stars Karena Lam, Michelle Wai, Terrance Lau, Cecilia Choi, Wong You-nam, Chu Hong, Kevin Chu, Tony Wu and ANSONBEAN. The film features three crime stories, namely Rapunzel, Cheshire Cat, and Tooth Fairy, which depict the path from obsession to madness, and how the dark side of human nature is triggered.

     The Chairman of the Hong Kong Film Development Council, Dr Wilfred Wong, said, "'Tales From The Occult: Body and Soul' is directed by three new talented directors, and each story features both seasoned and new actors. Through their excellent portrayal of the characters, the actors reveal to the audience the dark side of human nature, which sends chills down the audiences' spines."

     He added, "The Hong Kong Film Development Council will continue to promote and support different genres of Hong Kong films, so as to diversify the development of the Hong Kong film industry."

     Since 2005, the Government has injected a total of $1.54 billion into the FDF to support a number of film production projects and other film-related projects. Since 2007, the FDF has financed 61 film projects, involving total funding of about $230.59 million. The production budget for "Tales From The Occult: Body and Soul" is around $9.5 million, with government financing amounting to about $3.8 million.
