EDB launches Moving Showroom under Positive Parent Campaign (with photos)
*************************************************************************
The Under Secretary for Education, Mr Sze Chun-fai, visited the "Show Gratitude and Appreciation - Support your Child with Love and Companionship" Moving Showroom under the Positive Parent Campaign today (May 13).

The Education Bureau (EDB) has arranged a moving showroom to tour different districts during the periods covering Mother's Day and Father's Day in May and June with a view to promoting positive parent education to the public. Riding on the occasions of Mother's Day and Father's Day, the EDB encourages parents and children to extend their love for each other in their daily lives, and express their gratitude and appreciation through actions to foster an amicable and strong parent-child relationship for the happy and healthy development of children.

Mr Sze made two handcrafts - a Gratitude Tree and an Appreciation Memo Pad - together with other parents and children at the parent-child workshop at the moving showroom. He said, "Being the father of two children, I encourage parents to do more handcraft works and play more with their children to enjoy the precious moments of being together. I wish that through participating in these activities, parents and children will appreciate each other and parents will cultivate in their children a positive mindset and positive values with their companionship and guidance."

The "Show Gratitude and Appreciation - Support your Child with Love and Companionship" Moving Showroom will visit 30 locations across the territory starting from today till May 26 as well as between June 17 and 23 from 11am to 7pm. The moving showroom parked at Paterson Street, Causeway Bay, today.

The ambassadors of the Positive Parent Campaign, "Mommy Light", "Daddy Light", their son "Warmie" and daughter "Glowie", together forming the "Light Family" are the icons of the moving showroom to help promote positive parent education. A number of activities and relevant information for parents and children are available at the moving showroom. For instance, children can make a unique DIY gift and write thankful notes to their parents at the parent-child handcraft workshop to show their gratitude. The moving showroom also features a video gallery, and parent-child board games and souvenirs will be distributed. Parents and children are welcome to the event. All the activities are free of charge and no reservation is required. Souvenirs will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents may visit the activity website (www.parent.edu.hk/en/article/orpa2023) for parking locations and other details of the event.

In addition, the EDB officially launched the Facebook and Instagram pages and YouTube channel of the "Smart Parent Net" today to disseminate the latest parent education information and activities of "Smart Parent Net" with a view to providing parents with instant, up-to-date and diverse parent education resources and support through social media. It enables parents to grasp the parenting knowledge and skills on fostering the holistic development of their children and facilitates the physical and psychological well-being of children and themselves. Event details of the moving showroom are also posted on the Facebook and Instagram pages.
