Commencement of Companies (Amendment) Ordinance 2023

The Companies (Amendment) Ordinance 2023 was passed by the Legislative Council on January 18. The amended Companies Ordinance expressly enables companies to hold fully virtual or hybrid general meetings, in lieu of at physical locations. It will provide sufficient flexibility for companies to conduct corporate affairs smoothly and effectively having regard to their own circumstances and needs.
The Companies Registry (CR) has earlier organised talks for companies and issued a "Guidance Note - Good Practice on Holding Virtual or Hybrid General Meetings" to ensure smooth implementation of the new arrangements.
