CAD organises Career Open Day (with photos)
*******************************************
To nurture young people's interest in joining the aviation industry and to enhance their understanding of the Civil Aviation Department (CAD), the CAD held a Career Open Day at its headquarters today (April 21) for students who are aspiring to join or interested in the aviation industry. By participating in the series of activities of the Career Open Day, including career talks, Aviation Education Path (AEP) guided tours, and air traffic control tower simulator demonstrations, students were able to learn more about the development of aviation technologies as well as the job natures of various CAD grades.

Career talks were hosted by CAD representatives to introduce the different grades of the department. Career talks allowed students to better understand the highly professional and efficient job natures of CAD grades such as Air Traffic Controller, Electric Engineer and Operations Officer, and helped prepare them to pursue future careers in the aviation sector.

The AEP of the CAD presents a wide array of interesting exhibits and interactive multimedia systems. Students taking part in the AEP guided tours acquired knowledge of the aviation industry and aviation technologies in a lively way. The interesting tours conducted by the AEP's guides also cultivated students' interest in and knowledge of Hong Kong's aviation history, aviation security, as well as air traffic control operations.

In addition to career talks and the AEP guided tours, air traffic control tower simulator demonstrations were staged at the Career Open Day. The simulator, equipped with state-of-the-art projection and image generation technologies, is one of the most advanced control tower simulators in the world. In the simulator demonstration sessions, students could get a taste of being an air traffic controller who works in an air traffic control tower, and experience the joy and challenge of air traffic control operations.

Director General of Civil Aviation, Mr Victor Liu, was very pleased to see the Career Open Day conclude successfully with an overwhelming response. He said that the aviation industry is rapidly recovering from the epidemic with ample opportunities, adding that the Career Open Day did not only enable young people's better understanding of the CAD as well as the operation of the whole aviation industry, but also served to attract new blood to join the aviation industry to reinforce Hong Kong's status as an international aviation hub.
