Hospital Authority holds welcome ceremony for Greater Bay Area Healthcare Talents Visiting Programmes (with photos)

     The Hospital Authority (HA) today (April 18) held a welcome ceremony for the Greater Bay Area Healthcare Talents Visiting Programmes to greet more than 80 healthcare professionals coming from Guangdong Province to Hong Kong, uplifting the level of the healthcare sector in Hong Kong and Guangdong. The HA is deeply grateful to different authorities on the Mainland and in Hong Kong for their assistance in launching the visiting programmes.
 
     Speaking at the ceremony, the Secretary for Health, Professor Lo Chung-mau, welcomed the healthcare professionals to Hong Kong and said, "The Greater Bay Area Healthcare Talents Visiting Programmes allow doctors, Chinese medicine experts, nurses and other healthcare professions to learn from each other, as well as promote healthcare professionals from Hong Kong and Guangdong Province to work and learn in each other's public health system, thereby improving the quality of medical services in the two places while creating synergy in manpower and services in long run."
 
     The representative of the Health Commission of Guangdong Province, Ms Yang Bo, thanked the Health Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government for supporting the programmes and the HA for their thoughtful arrangements so that healthcare professionals from Guangdong Province could start working as soon as possible after arriving in Hong Kong. Ms Yang said, "The doctors, nurses and Chinese medicine practitioners participating in the programmes are all experts and mainstays of the Mainland medical institutions. Through the programmes, I hope that we can learn from our fellows in Hong Kong and complement each other, as well as deepen our co-operation in different areas such as professional training, clinical research, and medical services to achieve win-win co-operation."
 
     The HA Chairman, Mr Henry Fan, said, "This exchange programme marks a new beginning for Hong Kong and the Mainland to strengthen professional exchanges. During the pandemic, the Mainland medical support team supported us in fighting the epidemic situation which laid the foundation for the co-operation between the two places. When this exchange programme ends, more healthcare professionals will also be expected to visit Hong Kong in the future. It will help promote the integration of medical services in Hong Kong and the Mainland through exchanges while improving the quality of medical services, and benefit patients."
  
     Healthcare professionals participating in the exchange arrived in Hong Kong earlier, including 10 doctors who will be assigned to exchange in the Kowloon Central Cluster, Kowloon West Cluster and New Territories West Cluster. They have been approved by the Medical Council of Hong Kong to practice with limited registration and will participate in clinical work in the hospitals of the three clusters. Seventy nurses will be assigned to different hospitals in the seven clusters to exchange knowledge on different nursing expertise matters and clinical work. Three Chinese medicine experts will participate in the clinical training works on integrated Chinese-Western medicine in different hospitals.

The Hospital Authority held a ceremony to welcome healthcare professionals from Guangdong Province to an exchange. Among them are 10 doctors, 70 nurses and three Chinese medicine experts. They will work during the exchange in public hospitals in the coming year.
