Hongkong Post to issue "24 Solar Terms - Summer" special stamps (with photos)

The 24 Solar Terms collectively refer to a knowledge system of time progressively developed by the ancient Chinese people through observation of the sun's periodic motion, changes of seasons and phenological cycles for guiding traditional agricultural production and people's daily lives. In 2016, a proposal put forward by Mainland China to include the 24 Solar Terms in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization was accepted.
As a continuation of the "24 Solar Terms" series following the special stamps themed on "24 Solar Terms - Spring" issued in 2020, Hongkong Post will issue a set of six stamps, a souvenir sheet and associated philatelic products on the theme of "24 Solar Terms - Summer", featuring the six solar terms of summer, namely "Summer Commences", "Corn Forms", "Corn on Ear", "Summer Solstice", "Moderate Heat" and "Great Heat" in a myriad of colours.
Official first day covers for "24 Solar Terms - Summer" will be on sale at all post offices and on Hongkong Post's online shopping mall ShopThruPost (shopthrupost.hongkongpost.hk) from tomorrow (April 19). This set of special stamps and associated philatelic products will be on sale at all post offices and ShopThruPost from May 4, while serviced first day covers affixed with the special stamps will be available at philatelic offices only.
A hand-back date-stamping service will be provided on May 4 at all post offices for official first day covers/souvenir covers/privately made covers bearing the first day of issue indication and a local address. Collection points will be set up at all post offices on the same day for submission of the covers requesting the hand-back date-stamping service.
