COVID-19-related hotlines to cease operation starting from 8pm next Tuesday
***************************************************************************
The Government announced today (April 14) that the COVID-19 hotlines (2125 1111/2125 1122/1830 111) under the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health as well as the enquiry hotline (1836 115) and the Chinese Medicine Service Hotline (1834 511) under the Hospital Authority (HA) will cease operation starting from 8pm next Tuesday (April 18).

The COVID-19 hotlines under the CHP commenced operation in January 2020 while the enquiry hotline and the Chinese Medicine Service Hotline under the HA started to operate in February 2022, assisting members of the public to enquire about relevant information on COVID-19. In the light of the full resumption of the society, COVID-19 is now being managed as an upper respiratory tract illness. Moreover, the demand for the relevant telephone hotline services has dropped to an extremely low level recently. In this connection, the Government decided to cease the operation of these hotlines.

As at April 13, 2023, over 2 880 000 calls have been handled by the COVID-19 hotlines under the CHP, whereas over 150 000 and 43 000 calls have been dealt with by the enquiry hotline and the Chinese Medicine Service Hotline under the HA respectively.

Upon the cessation of operation of the relevant hotlines, members of the public may continue to visit the COVID-19 Thematic Website (www.coronavirus.gov.hk) for information.
