TD and LocoBike to hold 12-month trial on shared use of electric mobility devices on cycle tracks at Pak Shek Kok from March 31
******************************************************************************************
The Transport Department (TD) today (March 30) announced that the department and Locolla Limited (LocoBike) will jointly hold a 12-month trial on shared use of electric mobility devices from March 31 this year to March 30 next year on an approximately 4-kilometre long cycle track section at Pak Shek Kok between the MTR University Station and Mayfair by the Sea, with a view to gaining more operating experience for the shared use of power-assisted pedal cycles (PAPCs) on cycle tracks for short-distance commuting between a workplace/living area and a major transport hub.

As a one-off arrangement for the trial, the shared PAPCs provided by LocoBike would be affixed with permits issued by the TD, and LocoBike has arranged registration of participants, for them to use the shared PAPCs with permits within the specified period and extent. The TD emphasised that members of the public without prior registration will not be permitted to participate in the trial. Registered participants using PAPCs without permits, or using PAPCs outside the extent and time period specified in the permit may commit an offence under the Road Traffic Ordinance (Cap. 374), its subsidiary legislation and other relevant legislation.

Members of the public are advised to be alert to the arrangement of the trial and be cautious when cycling in the designated cycle track section or crossing the cycle track. Ambassadors will be on site at times to provide guidance and necessary assistance.
