Special traffic and transport arrangements in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay from this Friday to Sunday for rugby matches

     The Transport Department (TD) today (March 29) reminded the public that the following special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in So Kon Po and Causeway Bay from this Friday to Sunday (March 31 to April 2), to facilitate the holding of rugby matches at Hong Kong Stadium. 

Traffic arrangements 
-----------------------

* From about 11.15am on March 31, about 7.45am on April 1 and about 7am on April 2, the section of Caroline Hill Road between Leighton Road and Cotton Path, and part of Hysan Avenue westbound will be closed; and

* From about 7.50pm on March 31, about 8.25pm on April 1 and about 7.25pm on April 2, Caroline Hill Road, Eastern Hospital Road, Eastern Hospital Road service road, Cotton Path, parts of Tung Lo Wan Road northbound, Link Road, Hoi Ping Road and Keswick Street will be closed until the crowd disperses and road closures are lifted.

Public transport arrangements 
----------------------------------

     The following bus route diversions and associated temporary relocation of bus stops will be implemented in connection with the road closures mentioned above:

* Citybus (CTB) route No. 5B and New World First Bus route (NWFB) No. 8H will operate in a circular route mode during the event period and will omit Caroline Hill Road and Eastern Hospital Road from about 7.50pm on March 31, about 8.25pm on April 1 and about 7.25pm on April 2;

* Cross-harbour bus (XHT) route No. 678 Sheung Shui-bound will depart from Causeway Road outside Victoria Park instead of Eastern Hospital Road;  

* XHT 936 and 936A Causeway Bay-bound will terminate at Tung Lo Wan Road and Kwai Chung-bound will depart from Moreton Terrace outside Bay View Mansion instead of Cotton Path;  

* The bus stops at Tung Lo Wan Road southbound opposite St. Paul's Hospital (except route Nos. 11, 23B, 25A, 26, 63 and 108) will be suspended;

* The bus stops at Leighton Road westbound near Caroline Hill Road will be suspended;

* Green minibus (GMB) route Nos. 14M and 30 and residents' service route No. HR51 Causeway Bay-bound will be diverted via Wong Nai Chung Road instead of Link Road; GMB route No. 14M Jardine's Lookout-bound and residents' service route No. HR51 Happy Valley-bound will be diverted via Wong Nai Chung Road instead of Link Road;

* GMB route No. 26 will be diverted via Percival Street instead of Lee Garden Road for the commencement of the event, and via Sun Wui Road instead of Hoi Ping Road for the conclusion of the event.

* Bus companies will provide seven special bus routes comprising route Nos. 8R (to Siu Sai Wan), 25R (to Central (Exchange Square)), 30R (to Cyberport), 108R (to Kai Yip), 117R (to Mong Kok), 930R (to Tsuen Wan (Discovery Park Bus Terminus)), and 936R (to Tsuen Wan (Bayview Garden)) after the matches, and the departure times will depend on passenger demand and traffic conditions on-site; 

* CTB route Nos. 5X, 10, NWFB route Nos. 2A, 2X, 8, 8P, 23, 25 and 38 and XHT route Nos. 601 and 680 will be diverted via Gloucester Road instead of Causeway Road from about 3pm to 6.30pm on March 31;

* NWFB route No. 63 will omit Pennington Street from about 3pm to 6.30pm on March 31; and  

* On-street parking spaces within the road closure areas will be suspended.

     Appropriate traffic signs will be erected to guide motorists. The TD anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of So Kon Po and Causeway Bay will be very congested. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas. In case of traffic congestion, they should exercise tolerance and patience, follow instructions from the Police and be alert to the latest traffic news through the media.

     Public transport operators will display notices to inform passengers of the temporary arrangements. Public transport users are advised to pay attention to the arrangements of bus/GMB route diversions and relocation of bus stops. The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary.
