Fatal traffic accident in Tsing Yi

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tsing Yi this afternoon (March 16) in which a 33-year-old man died.

     At about 2.21pm, a public light bus (PLB) driven by a 63-year-old man was travelling along Tsing Yi Road West towards Ching Hong Road. When approaching the junction of Tsing Yi Road West and Liu To Road, it reportedly rammed into a motorcycle driven by the 33-year-old man.

     Sustaining multiple injuries, the man was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital in unconscious state, and was certified dead at 3.48pm.

     The PLB driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South is underway.

     Anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers on 3661 1348 or 3661 1446.

     Police strongly condemn the irresponsible driving behaviour of the driver. It not only jeopardises the safety of other road users and threatens one’s personal safety, but is also the actual cause of serious traffic accidents. Police do not tolerate such acts and will take resolute enforcement action.
