Three men sentenced for violating Prevention and Control of Disease Regulation

     Three men were sentenced by the Shatin Magistrates' Courts today (March 13) for violating the Prevention and Control of Disease Regulation (Cap. 599A).

     ​The first two cases involved two men aged 42 and 43, who were earlier issued with compulsory quarantine orders. Before the expiry of the quarantine orders, they left the place of quarantine on August 11 and August 28 last year respectively. They were charged with contravening sections 22(1), (4) and (6) of the Regulation and were each fined $8,000 by the Shatin Magistrates' Courts today. 

     ​The third case involved a 34-year-old man, who earlier tested positive for COVID-19 and was issued with an isolation order. Before the end of the isolation period, he left the place of isolation on November 14 last year. He was charged with contravening sections 23(1), (3) and (5) of the Regulation and was fined $8,000 by the Shatin Magistrates' Courts today.
