Four men sentenced for violating Prevention and Control of Disease Regulation

     Four men were sentenced by the Magistrates' Courts today (March 9) for violating the Prevention and Control of Disease Regulation (Cap. 599A).
      
     The first three cases involved a 24-year-old man, a 63-year-old man and a 65-year-old man, who were earlier issued with compulsory quarantine orders. Before the expiry of the quarantine orders, they left the place of quarantine on June 29, July 7 and October 1 last year respectively. The 24-year-old man was charged with contravening sections 22(1), (4) and (6) of the Regulation and was fined $5,000 by the Fanling Magistrates' Courts today. The 63-year-old man was charged with contravening sections 22(1), (4) and (6) of the Regulation and was fined $8,000 by the West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts today. The 65-year-old man was charged with contravening sections 32(1) and (3) of the Regulation and was fined $5,000 by the Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts today.
           
     The fourth case involved a 57-year-old man who earlier tested positive for COVID-19 and was issued with an isolation order. Before the end of the isolation period, he left the place of isolation on July 20 last year. He was charged with contravening sections 23(1), (3) and (5) of the Regulation and was fined $5,000 by the Fanling Magistrates' Courts today.
