Two women sentenced for violating Prevention and Control of Disease Regulation

     Two women were sentenced by the Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts today (March 6) for violating the Prevention and Control of Disease Regulation (Cap. 599A).

     The first case involved a 25-year-old woman. She earlier tested positive for COVID-19 and was issued with an isolation order. Before the end of the isolation period, she removed her electronic wristband and left the place of isolation on November 29 last year. She was charged with contravening sections 23(1), (4) and (5) and sections 32(1) and (3) of the Regulation and was fined a total of $10,000 for the two charges by the Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts today.

     ​​The second case involved a 69-year-old woman, who was earlier issued with a compulsory quarantine order. Before the expiry of the quarantine order, she left the place of quarantine on August 5 last year. She was charged with contravening sections 32(1) and (3) of the Regulation and was fined $5,000 by the Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts today.
