SHYA learns about youth development and community network building in Singapore (with photos)

     The Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, Miss Alice Mak, continued her visit in Singapore today (February 17).
 
     Miss Mak and the Director of Home Affairs, Mrs Alice Cheung, first visited the Ministry of Culture, Community, and Youth of Singapore and the National Youth Council (NYC) in the morning. They met with the Chief Executive Officer of the NYC, Mr David Chua, to exchange views on promoting youth development in Singapore and Hong Kong. Miss Mak shared with the attendees the latest information on Hong Kong's policies and measures on youth development, including the overall vision and guiding principles of the recently promulgated Youth Development Blueprint. She also welcomed Singapore young people to visit Hong Kong for overseas exchanges, so as to enhance mutual understanding between two sides.

     Miss Mak and her team later attended a welcome luncheon hosted by the Minister for Culture, Community and Youth of Singapore, Mr Edwin Tong.
 
     In the afternoon, Miss Mak and her team met with the Chairperson of the Mayors' Committee, the Mayor of South West District and the Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry and Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, Ms Low Yen Ling. They learned about how the Community Development Council consolidates resources, expands networks, strengthens connections among government departments, enterprises, social service agencies, higher education institutions, etc to help the needy, connect the community, and build a harmonious society.

     Miss Mak and her team also visited the Jurong Spring Community Club to inspect its facilities and understood that the community club provides services and activities with an aim of promoting social connections.
 
     The YDC Youth Ambassadors who are on an exchange in Singapore visited the Bank of China Singapore Branch and Little India today to learn about the development of state-owned enterprises in Singapore, as well as religious and cultural characteristics.

     Afterwards, Miss Mak and the Youth Ambassadors met with Hong Kong youths working in Singapore to share their life and work experiences.
