Home and Youth Affairs Bureau and Youth Development Commission jointly launch Funding Scheme for Youth Exchange in the Mainland and Funding Scheme for International Youth Exchange
******************************************************************************************
The Home and Youth Affairs Bureau (HYAB) and the Youth Development Commission (YDC) jointly launched the new round of Funding Scheme for Youth Exchange in the Mainland and the Funding Scheme for International Youth Exchange today (February 17), sponsoring non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to organise youth exchange tours to the Mainland and overseas countries.

The Chief Executive stated in his 2022 Policy Address that the Government will work with all sectors of the community on a variety of activities to help young people broaden their horizons, acquire a better understanding of the development of the country and the world, and develop a proper and holistic outlook. As stated in the Youth Development Blueprint published earlier by the HYAB, the breadth and depth of the Mainland and international internship and exchange programmes will be further strengthened. With the resumption of normal travel between Hong Kong and the Mainland as well as overseas, the HYAB is taking forward the resumption of various youth exchange and internship programmes. The HYAB and the YDC are launching a new round of the Funding Scheme for Youth Exchange in the Mainland and the Funding Scheme for International Youth Exchange.

Through sponsoring eligible NGOs to organise youth exchange tours to the Mainland, the Funding Scheme for Youth Exchange in the Mainland aims at promoting Hong Kong young people's awareness and understanding of their home country, strengthening exchanges with Mainland people and enhancing their sense of national identity. The Funding Scheme for International Youth Exchange aims to provide funding for eligible NGOs to organise international exchange projects for local young people so that they can widen their global exposure and understand the history, culture and development situation of different places.

The details and application forms of the two funding schemes have been uploaded onto the website of the YDC. Interested NGOs should submit applications on or before March 17:

In addition to the above two exchange funding schemes, the HYAB and the YDC have resumed the internship projects under the Funding Scheme for Youth Internship in the Mainland that were postponed during the epidemic period. The organisers will provide Hong Kong's young people with the opportunity to undertake internships in the Mainland during summer this year, enabling them to experience firsthand the actual workplace environment in the Mainland and cultivate a deeper understanding of the employment market, work culture and development opportunities there.

Young people who are interested in participating in the above programmes can refer to the One-Stop-Information Platform on Internship and Exchange Opportunities of the YDC (www.ydc.gov.hk/en/programmes/upcoming_activities.php), as well as the latest news from NGOs about exchange and internship activities.
