Sydney ETO holds reception in Melbourne to celebrate Year of the Rabbit (with photos)

Over 200 guests from various sectors including political and business circles, media, academic and community groups as well as government representatives attended the reception. Among them was the Acting Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Melbourne, Mr Zeng Jianhua.
Addressing the reception in a virtual speech, the Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Kevin Yeung, said that Hong Kong has returned to the centre stage in the global arena, citing a series of international events held successfully.
Mr Yeung said that the National 14th Five-Year Plan has indicated clear support for Hong Kong to develop into an East-meets-West centre for international cultural exchange, providing enormous opportunities for the arts and culture sectors to grow further. He added that the West Kowloon Cultural District continues to serve the global arts and culture community with its world-class facilities, including the M+ museum and the Hong Kong Palace Museum. Together with the Hong Kong Museum of Art, this cluster of three unique art museums has transformed Hong Kong into a "must visit" city for art lovers.
"With the 10-year development blueprint for arts and cultural facilities in Hong Kong, there can only be even more facilities of exceptional quality for all kinds of talents to showcase themselves," Mr Yeung said.
Mr Yeung also shared that an array of initiatives on attracting talents and promoting arts and culture developments had been announced in the 2022 Policy Address, noting that the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts is planning to build another campus to nurture more arts and culture talents.
The Director of the Sydney ETO, Miss Trista Lim, said in her welcoming remarks that the ties between Hong Kong and Australia remain strong and will get even better. She introduced the Hello Hong Kong campaign launched earlier this month and eagerly welcomed all tourists, business travellers and investors from Australia and around the globe to visit Hong Kong to experience its vibrancy and explore the immense opportunities the city offers.
To promote Chinese traditional culture, a martial arts performance was staged at the reception. The Sydney ETO will continue to host Chinese New Year receptions in different cities in Australia as well as Auckland in New Zealand to celebrate the Year of the Rabbit with communities.
