CSB sets up booth at Education & Careers Expo to publicise civil service jobs and information (with photos)
***************************************************************

The Civil Service Bureau (CSB) and various bureaux and departments have set up booths at the Education & Careers Expo 2023 from today (February 2) for four consecutive days to publicise jobs and related information of the civil service including entry requirements, pay and fringe benefits as well as training opportunities. Persons who love Hong Kong and have a passion to serve the public as civil servants are welcome to visit.

The Permanent Secretary for the Civil Service, Mr Clement Leung, visited the Expo today. He said, "The Government launches recruitment exercises every year to fill vacancies in various departments and grades involving different professions, areas and natures of work, offering a host of opportunities for graduates, young people and job seekers. I encourage those who are committed to serving the community to join the civil service to realise their potential and aspirations, and to contribute to Hong Kong."

Being the largest employer in Hong Kong, the Government has launched over 1 000 recruitment exercises in the four financial years starting from 2018-19. In the aforesaid period, over 10 000 persons were appointed as civil servants on average every year. In future, the Government will continue to make every effort to recruit talents and inject new blood into the civil service.

The CSB will hold a seminar on "Careers in the Government - Administrative Officer (AO) and Executive Officer (EO) Grades" at the Open Forum in Hall 1E from 3.30pm to 4pm tomorrow (February 3). Serving officers will share job hunting skills, internship programmes and career development prospects of the AO and EO Grades. Persons who are interested in applying for posts of the two Grades are welcome to join.

In order to ensure that new recruits to the civil service will have a basic understanding of the Basic Law and the National Security Law, for all civil service recruitment exercises launched on or after July 1, 2022, candidates must attain a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test (BLNST) in order to be considered for appointment. To enable visitors to gain a better understanding of the BLNST, a game kiosk is set up at the booth for visitors to attempt sample BLNST questions. Souvenirs will be given to participants while stocks last.

The Education & Careers Expo 2023 will be held from today to February 5 at Hall 1D&E of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Admission is free. The CSB's booth number is 1D - C10 in Hall 1D. For information on matters related to civil service recruitment, please visit the website of the CSB: www.csb.gov.hk/english/recruit/7.html.
