Fatal traffic accident in Tsing Yi
     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident happened in Tsing Yi yesterday (February 1), in which an 80-year-old man died.

     At about 6.36pm, a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) driven by a 63-year-old driver was travelling along Chung Mei Road westbound. When approaching near Hong Fu House, Cheung Hong Estate, the HGV reportedly lost control and rammed into the 80-year-old man who was crossing the road. After the impact, the HGV left the scene.

     Sustaining multiple injuries, the man was rushed to Yan Chai Hospital in unconscious state and certified dead at 7.08pm.

     The driver was arrested today (February 2) for dangerous driving causing death, failing to stop after a traffic accident and failing to report after a traffic accident. He is being detained for further enquiries.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South is underway.
