     Non-official Members of the Executive Council (ExCo Non-official Members) today (January 30) visited a mock-up unit of Light Public Housing (LPH) as arranged by the Housing Bureau.

     Accompanied by the Secretary for Housing, Ms Winnie Ho, and the Under Secretary for Housing, Mr Victor Tai, the ExCo Non-official Members visited a mock-up unit of LPH at Kai Tak and received a briefing on the latest project details. LPH will be built expeditiously with a standardised simple design and the Modular Integrated Construction approach, providing units of different sizes to cater for the needs of different applicants. LPH units will be provided with individual toilets, shower areas and open cooking spaces.

     The Members said that they were pleased to know that the Housing Bureau has announced more sites for LPH development, among which about half are located in urban areas, and that the construction cost of LPH will be reduced. The Members hoped that the LPH project could help increase the overall public housing supply, in particular in the short term, as soon as possible and improve the living conditions of people living in inadequate housing.

     The ExCo Non-official Members joining the visit today were Professor Arthur Li, Mr Jeffrey Lam, Mr Tommy Cheung, Mr Joseph Yam, Dr Lam Ching-choi, Dr Moses Cheng, Mr Chan Kin-por, Dr Eliza Chan, Dr Ko Wing-man and Mr Stanley Ng.
