Hongkong Post to issue "Seasonal Trees in Hong Kong" special stamps (with photos)
***************************************************************

Hongkong Post announced today (January 30) that a special stamp issue and associated philatelic products on the theme of "Seasonal Trees in Hong Kong" will be released for sale on February 14 (Tuesday).

Hong Kong enjoys a subtropical climate and is home to a rich variety of plants with more than 3 100 plant species. Hongkong Post will issue a set of four stamps and associated philatelic products on the theme of "Seasonal Trees in Hong Kong" to introduce four species of trees with seasonal interest that are commonly seen in Hong Kong.

Each of the stamps shows a common species of trees in Hong Kong, including yellow pui that blooms in spring, jacaranda that blossoms in summer, bald cypress that turns golden in autumn and bell-flower cherry that endures the strong cold of winter. The four species of trees can be easily found here and there in Hong Kong.

Official first day covers for "Seasonal Trees in Hong Kong" will be put on sale at all post offices from tomorrow (January 31), and on Hongkong Post's online shopping mall ShopThruPost (shopthrupost.hongkongpost.hk). This set of special stamps and associated philatelic products will be on sale at all post offices and ShopThruPost from February 14, while serviced first day covers affixed with the special stamps will be available at philatelic offices only.

A hand-back date-stamping service will be provided on February 14 at all post offices for official first day covers/privately made covers bearing the first day of issue indication and a local address. To avoid people gathering at the post offices, collection points will be set up at all post offices on the same day for submission of the covers requesting the hand-back date-stamping service. Customers will be advised of the collection schedule upon acceptance of the covers.

Information about this set of special stamps and associated philatelic products is available on the Hongkong Post Stamps website (stamps.hongkongpost.hk) and in the ShopThruPost mobile app.
