Fatal traffic accident in Tsing Yi

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident happened in Tsing Yi yesterday (January 20), in which a 75-year-old male driver of a light goods vehicle died.

     At about 7.21pm, a light goods vehicle driven by the male driver was travelling along Tsing Yi Hong Wan Road southbound with a 67-year-old female passenger on board. When approaching near a roundabout, the light goods vehicle reportedly lost control and rammed into a concrete pumping machine.

     The male driver was trapped inside the vehicle and was rescued by firemen. Sustaining multiple injuries, he was rushed to Yan Chai Hospital in unconscious state and certified dead at 8.35pm. The female passenger, who sustained injuries to her limbs, was sent to Princess Margaret Hospital in conscious state.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South is underway.
