Latest shipment of Comirnaty bivalent vaccine arrives in Hong Kong

Soon after the arrival of the batch of Comirnaty bivalent vaccine in Hong Kong, government staff carried out stringent checking and inspection in accordance with established procedures to ensure that the vaccine complies with the product specifications and that the transportation process follows the relevant cold-chain requirements. The Government will put the vaccine in validated ultra-low temperature freezers to ensure its proper storage in accordance with the temperature specified by the drug manufacturer.
With the arrival of the vaccine today, all the 1.9 million doses of the Comirnaty bivalent vaccine procured from the manufacturer have arrived in Hong Kong. The Government has procured sufficient vaccine for the Government Vaccination Programme, and will continue to closely monitor the latest recommendation by experts as well as the demand for the bivalent vaccine.
A Government spokesman said, "The COVID-19 vaccines available in Hong Kong are safe and effective. The key to maintain the protection conferred by the vaccine is to receive suitable doses according to the vaccination schedule. As the protection conferred by the vaccines will diminish over time, we appeal to the members of the public who have not received a suitable number of doses of vaccine to get the dose(s) as soon as possible for self-protection, in particular high-risk persons such as the elderly."
