Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department temporarily adjusted vehicle examination requirements of Hong Kong cross-boundary private cars
******************************************************************************************
The Transport Department (TD) said today (January 20) that the Department was notified by the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department (GDPSD) that the vehicle examination requirement for Hong Kong cross-boundary private cars has been temporarily adjusted.

Hong Kong cross-boundary private cars with valid Mainland "Compulsory Traffic Accident Liability Insurance for Motor Vehicles" are allowed to travel in the Guangdong Province during the period from January 20 to February 19, 2023, even though they have not passed the vehicle examination as required by the Mainland authorities.

The TD reminds that all cross-boundary private cars are required to obtain relevant licences/permits, including but not limited to valid Closed Road Permit of the relevant control point, and have completed all formalities required by the relevant Hong Kong and the Mainland government authorities, before travelling between Hong Kong and Guangdong. All persons are required to comply with the arrangement announced by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on cross-boundary travel.
