Crowd safety management measures and special traffic arrangements in Wong Tai Sin and Sha Tin

     Police will implement crowd safety management measures and special traffic arrangements in Wong Tai Sin and Sha Tin districts to facilitate worshippers visiting Wong Tai Sin Temple and Che Kung Temple during the Lunar New Year period.

Wong Tai Sin Temple

     The following special traffic arrangements will be implemented from 7am on January 21 to 00.01am on February 6:

- Shatin Pass Road between Lung Cheung Road and Fung Tak Road will be closed, except for green minibuses;
- The unnamed road connecting Wong Tai Sin Road and Wong Tai Sin Temple will be closed, except for designated vehicles of Sik Sik Yuen; and
- Vehicles cannot park or wait at Wong Tai Sin Road between Shatin Pass Road and Nga Chuk Street.

     Wong Tai Sin Public Transport Terminus Car Park will be closed from 7am on January 21 to 00.01am on February 6. Subject to the prevailing situation, the aforesaid car park may be temporarily reopened during the period from January 26 to February 5.

Che Kung Temple in Sha Tin
--------------------------

     One-way pedestrian flow will be implemented at Che Kung Temple. Members of the public are advised to follow the designated pedestrian route to/from Che Kung Temple and to follow the instructions given by Police officers on site.

A. Road closure

     The following roads will be closed from 8pm on January 23 to 8pm on January 25:

1. The slow lane of westbound Che Kung Miu Road between Sha Tin Tau Road and Chui Tin Street; and
2. The slow lane of southbound Chui Tin Street between Che Kung Miu Road and the entrance of Sun Chui Estate near Sun Fong House.

B. Cycle tracks closure

     The following cycle tracks will be closed from 8pm on January 21 to 8pm on January 25:

1. The cycle track along Tsuen Lam Road between Tai Wai Road and the western riverside of Shing Mun River Channel;
2. The cycle track along the western riverside of Shing Mun River Channel between Tai Wai Soccer Pitch and Che Kung Miu Road;
3. The cycle track along the eastern riverside of Shing Mun River Channel between Tai Wai Soccer Pitch and Man Lai Court;
4. The cycle track connecting the eastern and western riversides of Shing Mun River Channel near Block 1 of Man Lai Court;
5. The cycle tracks along both sides of Che Kung Miu Road between Chui Tin Street and Sha Tin Tau Road;
6. The cycle track inside the subway system at the junction between Che Kung Miu Road and Chui Tin Street;
7. The cycle track inside the subway system at the junction between Che Kung Miu Road and Sha Tin Tau Road;
8. The cycle track along southern kerbside lane of Che Kung Miu Road between Chui Tin Street and Island School Tai Wai; and
9. The cycle tracks along both sides of Chui Tin Street between Che Kung Miu Road and the unnamed road leading to public car park adjacent to Che Kung Temple.

     During the cycle track closure period, cyclists may use the cycle track along the northern riverside of Shing Mun River Channel between Lion Rock Tunnel Road and Shing Wan Road commuting to and from Sha Tin.

C. Suspension of car parks

     The public car park at Chui Tin Street adjacent to Che Kung Temple will be suspended from 6am on January 21 to 8pm on January 25, and daily from 7am to 6pm on January 28, January 29, February 4 and February 5.

     The public car park at Chui Tin Street adjacent to Greenview Garden will be suspended between 6am on January 23 and 8pm on January 25.

     Members of the public are advised to make use of public transport to go to Wong Tai Sin Temple and Che Kung Temple. Police will continue traffic enforcement action during the Lunar New Year period, including multiple ticketing or towing away illegally parked vehicles without prior warning.

     Actual implementation of the crowd safety management measures and traffic arrangements will be made depending on traffic and crowd conditions in the area. Members of the public are advised to exercise tolerance and patience and take heed of instructions of the Police on site.
