Fatal traffic accident in Tin Sum

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Tin Sum last night (January 19) in which a 65-year-old woman died.

     At about 10.49pm, a private car driven by a 35-year-old man was travelling along Tin Sam Street westbound. When approaching a bus stop, it reportedly knocked down the 65-year-old woman who was crossing the road.

     Sustaining serious head injuries, the woman was rushed to Prince Wales Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 11.13pm.

     The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for enquiries.

     A 62-year-old female passenger felt unwell and was sent to Prince Wales Hospital in conscious state.

     Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, New Territories South is underway.

     Anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers on 3661 1346.

     Police strongly condemn the irresponsible driving behavior of the driver. It not only jeopardises the safety of other road users and threatens one’s personal safety, but is also the actual cause of serious traffic accidents. Police do not tolerate such acts and will take resolute enforcement action.
