Various holding centres to cease operation gradually

     The Social Welfare Department (SWD) today (January 19) announced that all holding centres (HCs) established in sports centres as well as some in AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) will gradually cease operation. Details are as follows:

  • HC at Choi Wing Road Sports Centre
  • HC at Tin Shui Wai Sports Centre
  • HC at Harbour Road Sports Centre
  • HC at Tsuen Wan West Sports Centre
2 February 3
  • HC at Tiu Keng Leng Sports Centre
  • HC at Tsing Yi Southwest Sports Centre
  • HC at Shek Kip Mei Park Sports Centre
  • HC at Siu Sai Wan Sports Centre
  • HC at Lung Sum Avenue Sports Centre
  • HCs at Halls 3, 6, 8 and 10 in AWE

     ​The SWD expresses heartfelt gratitude to the teams and organisations for their provision of care services and medical support at the aforementioned HCs. After the HCs have ceased operation, the SWD will arrange reinstatement works at the venues and later return them to the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) and AsiaWorld-Expo Management Limited respectively.

     The SWD will also return four sports centres earlier reserved for setting up HCs to the LCSD in early February, namely the Jockey Club Tuen Mun Butterfly Beach Sports Centre, North Kwai Chung Tang Shiu Kin Sports Centre, Po Kong Village Road Sports Centre and Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park Sports Centre.

     The HCs at Halls 9 and 11 of AWE will maintain operations until further notice.
