Arrangements for Che Kung Festival Fair and Fong Ma Po New Year Fair at Lam Tsuen in Tai Po
******************************************************************************************
The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) announced today (January 18) that the 2023 Che Kung Festival (CKF) fair and the Fong Ma Po (FMP) New Year Fair at Lam Tsuen in Tai Po will commence soon. This year, the FEHD has applied technology for crowd management at the two fairs, with a view to providing members of the public a more comfortable and safer shopping experience.

The CKF fair will be held at Chui Tin Street Soccer Pitch in Sha Tin from tomorrow (January 19) to February 5, providing a total of 40 dry goods stalls and two wet goods stalls. The FMP fair will be held from January 22 to February 5, providing 10 dry goods stalls.

Members of the public planning to visit the fairs may browse the information including the opening times of the fairs at the FEHD's dedicated webpage (www.fehd.gov.hk) in advance. The waiting status for entry of the fairs is also displayed in a "Green, Amber and Red Lights" format on the FEHD website and on site simultaneously, so as to enable the public to know about the footfall at the fairs and plan their trips. Green light means few people inside the fair and that no waiting is required, amber light indicates an increase in footfall and that waiting is required, while red light represents a large number of people awaiting admission and that a longer waiting time would be needed.

In response to the Government's latest anti-epidemic measures, related arrangements at the two fairs have been adjusted. The measures include that all participants must wear masks when entering or staying at the fair venues, that stall operators must provide in their stalls anti-septic hand sanitisers for use by the patrons at all times during business hours, and that they are also required to carry out cleaning and disinfection of their stalls on a daily basis using 1:99 diluted household bleach.

The FEHD has offered assistance in various aspects such as security, illumination and refuse collection to stall vendors, and will communicate with the stall vendors and provide appropriate assistance when necessary. The FEHD will also closely monitor the operation of the venues to ensure that the fairs operate smoothly and provide a pleasant shopping environment for both the public and the stall vendors.
