Proof of nucleic acid test not required for young children aged 3 and below for entry into Mainland from Hong Kong starting tomorrow
******************************************************************************************
The Government announced today (January 18) that, upon communications with relevant Mainland authorities, young children aged 3 and below will no longer be required to present proof of a negative result of a COVID-19 nucleic acid test conducted within 48 hours prior to their journey from Hong Kong to the Mainland starting tomorrow (January 19).

According to the Mainland's entry requirements, all persons entering the Mainland must possess proof of a negative result of a COVID-19 nucleic acid test conducted within 48 hours prior to the journey for entry into the Mainland. At present, no exemption is granted to any category of persons with regard to the relevant inbound nucleic acid testing requirement.

Upon communications between the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government and relevant Mainland authorities, from 0.00am tomorrow, young children aged 3 and below will be allowed to enter the Mainland without the need to hold proof of a negative result of a nucleic acid test conducted within 48 hours prior to the journey.

As for young children coming to Hong Kong from the Mainland and any other place, the HKSAR Government has granted exemption to those under 3 from the relevant testing requirement since June last year. The HKSAR Government will gazette the updated arrangement so that the exemption will be applicable to young children aged 3 and below. In other words, starting tomorrow, young children aged 3 and below will no longer be required to undergo the 48-hour pre-departure nucleic acid test for travelling from the Mainland to Hong Kong and from Hong Kong to the Mainland.
