Call for blood donations amid Chinese New Year
**********************************************
The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

The Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service (BTS) today (January 18) announced that most BTS donor centres will open during the Chinese New Year holidays to enable members of the public to donate blood (see Annex 1). At the beginning of a new year, it is more blessed to give than to receive. The BTS spokesperson said that in the midst of the winter service surge for public hospitals, blood inventories have depleted to a low level, and that the BTS encourages members of the public to give blood in the Chinese New Year holidays to maintain a stable blood supply for clinical transfusion needs.

As a token of thanks, every blood donor who donates successfully during January 22 to 25 will receive a CNY Healthy Snack Pack (see Annex 2) while stocks last.

The BTS reminds donors to make appointment beforehand in order to prevent crowd gathering and long waiting time. Please call the BTS donor centres, book online or via the "HK Blood" mobile app to make an appointment. For details, please visit www.ha.org.hk/rcbts.
