Hong Kong Customs holds inaugural ceremony of second-term Executive Committee of "Customs YES" (with photos)

     Hong Kong Customs today (January 18) held the inaugural ceremony of the second-term of the Executive Committee of "Customs YES" at the Customs Headquarters Building. The Commissioner of Customs and Excise, Ms Louise Ho, presented appointment certificates to the newly appointed Executive Director of the Executive Committee, Dr Chan Kin-keung, and 16 directors. The directorates of the department also attended the ceremony. 

     The Executive Committee comprises official and non-official members from different sectors, including business, healthcare, innovation and technology, legal, youth services, and culture and sports, who will advise on the sustainable development and activity strategy of "Customs YES". 

     Speaking at the ceremony, Ms Ho said that the vision of Customs is to strengthen communication with young people and nurture a new generation with an affection for the country and Hong Kong and equipped with global perspectives, an aspiring mindset and positive thinking through various educational activities. Pooling together talents from different aspects, the Executive Committee of "Customs YES" offers suggestions and advice and works collaboratively to promote the "4C" core development directions of "Customs YES", namely "Country", "Community", "Customs" and "Calibre". 

     Ms Ho also expressed her gratitude to the outgoing Executive Director of the first-term Executive Committee, Mr Edgar Kwan, for his dedicated contribution to "Customs YES" in the past two years. She said she is pleased that Mr Kwan will continue to support "Customs YES" in the capacity of the Honorary Founding Executive Director.

     Dr Chan also spoke at the ceremony that the Executive Committee will continue to fully support the youth development directions of Customs and further promote "Customs YES" and engage more young people by tapping the capacity and network of the committee members. 

     Since its launch in 2021, "Customs YES" has received overwhelming support from the community and has gained popularity among the young people. As at today, over 3 200 young individuals aged between 12 and 24 have become members of "Customs YES".
