HKSAR Government spokesman's response to media enquiries
********************************************************
In response to media enquiries about the arrangements for persons holding an Exit-entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao and a Hong Kong identity card concurrently to travel between Hong Kong and the Mainland under the first-phase resumption of normal travel, a spokesman for the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) gave a reply today (January 6) as follows:

To achieve progressive, orderly and comprehensive resumption of normal travel between Hong Kong and the Mainland, the HKSAR Government and the Shenzhen Municipal Government have reached the following consensus after deliberation: on the principle of fairness, under the first-phase resumption of normal travel, all persons (except for Mainland residents entering the Mainland, Hong Kong residents entering Hong Kong, and foreign visitors who return to Hong Kong from the Mainland) will be required to make bookings online successfully before travelling to the Mainland or Hong Kong through Shenzhen Bay Control Point, Man Kam To Control Point and Lok Ma Chau Spur Line/Futian Control Point. For persons holding an Exit-entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao and a Hong Kong identity card concurrently, they can only use the same document for travelling between Hong Kong and the Mainland. If they use an Exit-entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macao for travelling to the Mainland, they will not be required to make any booking online; but will be required to make a booking online successfully through the system of the Shenzhen Municipal Government before returning to Hong Kong. Similarly, if they use a Hong Kong identity card for travelling to the Mainland, they will be required to first make a booking online successfully through the system of the HKSAR Government; but will not be required to make any booking online before returning to Hong Kong.
