Special Polling Station to be set up at Penny's Bay Community Isolation Facility for 2023 Village Representative Election
******************************************************************************************
     The 2023 Village Representative Election will be held on January 8 (Sunday). The Home Affairs Department (HAD) will set up a Penny's Bay Polling Station (PBPS) at the Penny's Bay Community Isolation Facility for registered electors who are unable to cast their votes at their ordinary polling station on the polling day due to local isolation measures.

     The HAD explained that the arrangements are applicable to registered electors (collectively referred to as affected electors) who are unable to cast their votes at their ordinary polling station on the polling day due to the following situations:
(a) under isolation in community isolation facilities;
(b) undergoing home isolation; and
(c) under isolation in hotels/guest houses.

     The HAD will set up a 24-hour dedicated hotline (Tel: 3693 4769) starting from today (January 2) to handle applications of affected electors and arrange transportation according to the actual need of individual affected electors, so as to enable them to travel between the PBPS and their present isolation facilities. Having regard to the sufficient time required for disinfection and delivery of ballot papers to the respective counting stations after the close of the poll at the PBPS, the polling hours of the PBPS are specified to be noon to 5pm on January 8.

     Registered electors who wish to apply for the above-mentioned special polling arrangements should immediately contact the 24-hour dedicated hotline (Tel: 3693 4769) for assistance after receiving the isolation orders issued by the Centre for Health Protection. Applications must be made before 8pm on Saturday, January 7, so that the HAD can co-ordinate transportation arrangements. As for electors who are already in the Penny's Bay Community Isolation Facility on the polling day, they may apply before noon on the polling day. In order to ensure smooth conduct of the election, all applications submitted after the specified time will not be accepted.

     The HAD may update the special polling arrangements as appropriate based on the latest updates of the isolation measures, and will make any necessary announcements via a press release and the website of the Rural Representative Election (www.had.gov.hk/rre).
