Appointments to Hong Kong Deposit Protection Board

     The Financial Secretary, with the authority delegated by the Chief Executive, has appointed Mr Jack Cheung Tai-keung and re-appointed Mr Lawrence Chan Kam-man as members of the Hong Kong Deposit Protection Board for a term of three years from January 1, 2023.
 
     The Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Mr Christopher Hui, welcomed the appointments and said, "The members appointed and re-appointed are experts in their respective professional fields. We look forward to having their advice on the Board.
 
     "I would also like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the outgoing member, Mr Peter Lo Chi-wai, for his invaluable contribution over the years."
 
     The Board is a statutory body established in 2004 under the Deposit Protection Scheme Ordinance. It manages the operation of the Deposit Protection Scheme, which aims to protect depositors and contribute to the stability of the banking system.
 
     The aforesaid appointments under the Deposit Protection Scheme Ordinance were gazetted today (December 30).
