Special traffic and transport arrangements for Christmas Eve and Christmas holidays
***********************************************************************************
The Transport Department (TD) today (December 23) reminded the public to take note of the special traffic and transport arrangements to be implemented for Christmas Eve and Christmas holidays (December 24 to 27) to facilitate holiday celebrations.

Road closures and traffic diversions will be implemented in Central, Tsim Sha Tsui and West Kowloon Cultural District in phases from tomorrow (December 24) afternoon, and some bus and green minibus (GMB) routes will be subject to diversion, truncation or suspension. The Star Ferry Bus Terminus in Tsim Sha Tsui will also be suspended from 7.30pm tomorrow during the road closure period until the re-opening of roads for traffic.

The MTR services of Island Line, Tsuen Wan Line, Kwun Tong Line and East Rail Line (Admiralty - Sheung Shui) will be enhanced from 8pm tomorrow. MTR heavy rail lines (except Airport Express Line and Disneyland Resort Line) and Light Rail Routes 505, 507, 610, 614P, 615P, 706 and 751 will operate round the clock tomorrow, while the operating hours of MTR Bus Routes 506, K51 and K54 will be extended.

To cater for the festive passenger demand, the services of some bus and GMB routes will be adjusted or enhanced (including extension of operating hours). Tram services will be enhanced in the afternoon and during the evening peak period. The operating hours of Star Ferry service (Central - Tsim Sha Tsui) will be extended to 0.30am on the following day, while that of the Central-Mid-Levels Escalator and Walkway System will also be extended on December 24 and 25 to 1am on the following day. Members of the public are advised to pay attention to passenger notices issued by the public transport operators concerned.

Members of the public are advised to make use of public transport services and avoid driving to busy areas. If driving is necessary, motorists are advised to drive with care and patience, and should be aware that on-street parking spaces may be suspended due to road closures. Pedestrians are advised to walk on the pavement, pay attention to road safety, and be considerate and patient. They should also observe traffic lights and follow advice and instructions given by the Police on-site.

It is expected that a large number of passengers will use public transport services during the holiday period and the waiting time for public transport services may be longer than usual. The TD reminded passengers to plan their journeys in advance, observe order and heed advice on-site from the Police and staff of the public transport service operators concerned when waiting for the services.

The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures whenever necessary. Motorists and members of the public are advised to pay attention to the announcement of traffic news on radio, television, the TD's website (www.td.gov.hk) or mobile application "HKeMobility".

Details of the special traffic and transport arrangements are available on the TD's website and mobile application "HKeMobility".
