FPS payment function extended to online government services
***********************************************************
The Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau today (December 19) announced that Faster Payment System (FPS) services have been extended to payment of online government services.

Starting today, FPS payments will be available for designated online services of the Immigration Department, the Official Receiver's Office, the Security Bureau and the Transport Department. In making payments, members of the public can scan the FPS QR codes displayed at the webpages concerned, or make use of the FPS Web-to-App payment function on mobile applications.

A spokesman for the Financial Services and the Treasury Bureau said, "Since its launch in September 2018, the FPS has been widely adopted, with functionalities expanded continuously. Members of the public can now pay taxes, rates and Government rent, and water charges through the FPS, and scan the FPS QR code for payment at designated counters and self-help kiosks of government departments. The new FPS online payment service implemented by the four government bureau/departments today seeks to provide an additional convenient and expeditious means of payment for the public. More government departments are expected to provide the same service next year. Looking ahead, we will continue to explore new functionalities of the FPS, with a view to bringing greater convenience to the public."
