North Lantau Hospital appeals to public regarding absconded patient

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority.

     The spokesperson for the North Lantau Hospital (NLTH) made the following appeal (December 19) regarding a patient confirmed with COVID-19 leaving the hospital without notifying hospital staff:
      
     A 34-year-old male patient confirmed with COVID-19 was sent to the Accident and Emergency Department (AED) of NLTH by ambulance from the Penny's Bay Community Isolation Facility for treatment last night. The patient was found to have left the AED without notifying hospital staff at around 10am today.
      
     Security guards were deployed to search for the patient within the hospital compound and in the vicinity. The hospital also reported to the Police for assistance. The hospital is very concerned about the incident and will fully co-operate with police operation.
      
     The patient is of medium build. He was wearing a red jacket, a green shirt and long pants when he left the hospital.
      
     The hospital appeals to the public to contact the hospital at 3467 7080 or the Police if they know the whereabouts of the patient.
