Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund Awards Presentation Ceremony to be held online today

The following is issued on behalf of the Working Family and Student Financial Assistance Agency:
 
     The 2021/22 Sir Edward Youde Memorial Fund (SEYMF) Awards Presentation Ceremony will be held online this afternoon (December 19) to present various scholarships and awards to 925 students, three apprentices and five working adults.
 
     In the 2021/22 academic year, the Fund disbursed $2.77 million. To be presented in this round will be one fellowship award for overseas studies ($300,000), one overseas fellowship for a student with disability ($300,000), three fellowships for postgraduate students ($50,000 each), six scholarships for undergraduate students ($40,000 each), one scholarship for a student with disability ($40,000), six medals for students who obtained outstanding results in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination ($5,000 each), 895 prizes for senior secondary school students and 12 prizes for students of the Vocational Training Council ($1,000 each), three awards for outstanding apprentices ($5,000 each), and five awards for working adults who underwent retraining and successfully applied what they learned in their new positions ($5,000 each).
 
     The awards presentation ceremony will be held online at 2.30pm. Officiating guests will include Lady Youde; the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the SEYMF, Ms Kwan Sau-ha; and the Chairman of the SEYMF Council, Mr Ma Ching-cheng. A commemorative e-publication has also been published to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the SEYMF. Members of the public can get access to the online ceremony and the SEYMF 35th Anniversary Commemorative Publication on the SEYMF's website (wfsfaa.gov.hk/sfo/seymf).
 
     Since its inception, the SEYMF has supported over 28 000 Hong Kong students under its major schemes. Over 2 800 scholars and fellows have completed their studies and are now working in Hong Kong in different sectors, contributing to the well-being and development of society.
