Appointments to Standing Committee on Judicial Salaries and Conditions of Service

     The Government announced today (December 16) that the Chief Executive has appointed Dr Clement Chen Cheng-jen as Chairman of the Standing Committee on Judicial Salaries and Conditions of Service (Judicial Committee) for two years with effect from January 1, 2023.
 
     The Chief Executive has also appointed Professor Paul Lam Kwan-sing, and re-appointed Ms Miranda Kwok Pui-fong and Ms Cecilia Lee Sau-wai as members of the Judicial Committee for two years with effect from January 1, 2023.
 
     Professor Wong Yuk-shan and Mr Ignatius Chan Tze-ching, existing Chairman and member of the Judicial Committee respectively, will retire on December 31 this year. A spokesman for the Government said, "We would like to thank the outgoing Chairman, Professor Wong, for his dedicated service to the Judicial Committee over the years. Under his sound leadership, six annual reviews on judicial remuneration and the 2020 Benchmark Study were successfully completed. We would also like to thank Mr Chan for his invaluable contributions to the Judicial Committee over the years."
 
     The Judicial Committee is tasked to advise and make recommendations to the Chief Executive on matters concerning the salary and conditions of service of judges and judicial officers.
 
     The membership list with effect from January 1, 2023, is as follows:
