"City Hall Virtuosi Series: Flute Recital by Angus Lee" to be staged in January
***************************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will present "City Hall Virtuosi Series: Flute Recital by Angus Lee" in January next year. Local flautist Angus Lee will collaborate with pianist Mark Hui and cellist Pun Chak-yin to play a number of contemporary classical pieces, showcasing Lee's detail-oriented and dynamic approach to interpretation.

The repertoire of this recital includes Lee's transcription of Respighi's work "Sonata in B minor for Flute and Piano, P. 110", in which the original violin part is adapted for flute, hoping to offer the audience a refreshing experience. In addition, Lee will play two solo pieces, Scelsi's "Quays"(alto flute solo) and Mantovani's "Früh" (flute solo), and will perform Prokofiev's "Sonata in D for Flute and Piano, Op. 94", Milhaud's "Sonatina for Flute and Piano, Op. 76" and Kapustin's "Trio for Flute, Cello and Piano, Op. 86" with other musicians.

Lee graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and the Royal Academy of Music in London. Specialising in contemporary music, he has appeared at various international music festivals as a flautist or conductor. Lee has also learned composition from leading musicians, including Franck Bedrossian, Philippe Manoury, Isabel Mundry, and Yann Robin. His works have been premiered by local and overseas ensembles.
