CSSA caseload for November 2022

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in November showed a drop of 907 cases, representing a decrease of 0.4 per cent compared with that of October, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (December 16).
      
     The total CSSA caseload at the end of November stood at 207 589 (see attached table), with a total of 289 257 recipients.
      
     Analysed by case nature, low-earnings cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.3 per cent to 1 873 cases. Single parent cases decreased by 0.9 per cent to 22 327 cases. Old age cases dropped by 0.4 per cent to 116 794 cases. Both ill-health cases and permanent disability cases slightly decreased by 0.1 per cent to 27 193 and 17 327 cases respectively.
      
     Unemployment cases decreased by 0.8 per cent on a month-to-month basis to 18 175 cases. The figure represented an increase of about 44.4 per cent in comparison with that of January 2020 when Hong Kong just started to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The average number of applications for unemployment cases in September to November 2022 was 438 per month, representing an increase of 0.7 per cent from that in August to October 2022.
