LCSD's "The Power of Music" Series to spread positive energy through Chinese melodies
******************************************************************************************
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will launch its new "The Power of Music" Series in January and February next year, presenting four soul-stirring recitals by four veteran musicians in Chinese music, including Fung Tung (pipa), Chan Kwok-fai (guzheng), Sou Si-tai (guqin) and Tam Po-shek (dongxiao). By collaborating with various musicians, the four virtuosi will perform delightful melodies of Chinese music, empowering the audience with positive energy to kick start the year.

The four recitals, curated by the Executive Director of the Centre for Chinese Music Studies of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Chan Chi-chun, will feature four instruments, namely the pipa, guzheng, guqin and dongxiao. The selected Chinese compositions of each recital are threaded by the theme of nature, inviting the audience to leave the hustle and bustle, and embark on a musical journey through the seasons and the landscape. Radio host Ken Yuen will give a brief introduction at the beginning of each recital, and will chat with the musicians after the performances to gain insights into the culture and stories behind the pieces, thus allowing the audience to further appreciate the beauty of Chinese music.
