LegCo to consider Copyright (Amendment) Bill 2022

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

     The Legislative Council (LegCo) will hold a meeting tomorrow (December 7) at 11am in the Chamber of the LegCo Complex. During the meeting, the Second Reading debate on the Copyright (Amendment) Bill 2022 will resume. If the Bill is supported by Members and receives its Second Reading, it will stand committed to the committee of the whole Council. After the committee of the whole Council has completed consideration of the Bill and its report is adopted by the Council, the Bill will be set down for the Third Reading.

     The Second Reading debates on the International Organizations (Privileges and Immunities) (Amendment) Bill 2022 and the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing (Amendment) Bill 2022 will also resume. If the Bills are supported by Members and receive their Second Reading, they will stand committed to the committee of the whole Council. After the committee of the whole Council has completed consideration of the Bills and their reports are adopted by the Council, the Bills will be set down for the Third Reading.

     Meanwhile, the Companies (Amendment) Bill 2022 will be introduced into the Council for the First Reading and the Second Reading. The Second Reading debate on the Bill will be adjourned.

     On Members' motions, Mr Chu Kwok-keung will move a motion on "Maintaining the proportion of education expenditure in the Gross Domestic Product and enhancing the quality of education". The motion is set out in Appendix 1. Mr Dennis Leung will move an amendment to Mr Chu's motion.

     Mr Andrew Lam will move a motion on "Deepening administrative reform and making continued efforts to enhance governance systems". The motion is set out in Appendix 2. Mr Tony Tse, Mr Chan Hok-fung and Mr Stanley Ng will move separate amendments to Mr Andrew Lam's motion.

     Separately, the Chairman of the Panel on Food Safety and Environmental Hygiene, Mr Steven Ho; the Chairman of the Panel on Financial Affairs, Mr Jeffrey Lam; the Chairman of the Panel on Development, Mr Tony Tse; the Chairman of the Panel on Health Services, Mr Tommy Cheung; the Chairman of the Panel on Environmental Affairs, Ms Elizabeth Quat; the Chairman of the Panel on Home Affairs, Culture and Sports, Mr Vincent Cheng; the Chairman of the Panel on Administration of Justice and Legal Services, Mr Martin Liao; and the Deputy Chairman of the Panel on Public Service, Mr So Cheung-wing, will present the Reports of the related Panels and address the Council respectively.

     Members will also ask the Government 22 questions on various policy areas, six of which require oral replies.
