Transcript of remarks by SHYA
*****************************

Following is the transcript of remarks by the Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, Miss Alice Mak, after watching the live broadcast of the memorial service for Former President of the People's Republic of China, Mr Jiang Zemin, at the Sau Mau Ping Community Hall today (December 6):

Reporter: Secretary, what's your impression of the Former President and what do you remember about him? Do you think today's arrangement is smooth? And why did you come here instead of going to the Central Government Offices?

Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs: Since the Central Government announced the date of the memorial service, we have received many requests from local organisations asking for venues for them to arrange their members and the residents to watch the live broadcast of the memorial service. That's why the Home Affairs Department has opened 21 spots and venues for the residents and the general public to watch the live broadcast together.

As I said, Former President, Mr Jiang Zemin, focused mainly on the welfare of our general public. That is why I choose to come here to watch the live broadcast with our residents, to remember his contributions to the opening up of our country.
