Public hospitals daily update on COVID-19 cases

As at 0.00am today (November 28), a total of 2 721 patients who tested positive for COVID-19 are currently hospitalised for treatment, including 322 new patients. Currently, there are 294 patients requiring oxygen therapy and 21 patients requiring ventilator support. Among the patients staying in isolation facilities, 616 patients are in isolation wards, 236 patients are in second-tier isolation wards and 575 patients are in the North Lantau Hospital Hong Kong Infection Control Centre, of which 221 in total are new patients. There are nine newly reported critical patients and 12 newly reported serious patients. There are a total of 61 patients in critical condition and 67 are in serious condition, of which 16 critical patients are receiving intensive care. Moreover, there are 202 patients who have recovered, including 166 patients who have been discharged. In addition, 26 patients who passed away in public hospitals were reported.
In the past week, there were 341 COVID-19 patients who reside in residential care homes for the elderly (RCHEs) admitted to hospitals. The number continues to be higher than the 299 and 241 RCHE COVID-19 patients admitted in the third and the second week of November respectively. The Hospital Authority (HA) is very concerned and will closely monitor the situation. The HA will keep close communication with relevant government departments and RCHEs so as to enhance medical support to RCHEs through the outreach teams.
In the fifth wave of the epidemic, there are 86 504 patients who have recovered so far, including 86 091 patients who have been discharged. And since early 2020, there are 98 884 patients who have recovered, including 98 471 patients who have been discharged.
The HA will maintain close contact with the Centre for Health Protection to monitor the latest developments and to inform the public and healthcare workers on the latest information in a timely manner.
